2025 – The Great Pumpkin Will Rise Again!

This years pumpkin patch will be the most sincere ever. We’re going to great lengths to ensure a successful pumpkin patch.

  • I’ve tilled 4 – 25′ rows
  • Added 20 bags of steer compost mix, 5 bags to each row
  • After tilling, I used a landscape rake to move the tilled dirt to the side. Afterwards, I dumped the manure/compost mixture into the hole, smoothed it out, and buried it with the dirt that I moved aside. The pumpkins will love this extra food.
  • Added some different low nitrogen granular fertilizers to each row to see which row gets the best results, leaving one of the rows untreated. Whichever performs best will be used for next year.
  • Ran new drip tape that will be buried 3″ under the surface.

The drip tape will be buried with the emitters pointed down, to prevent dirt from getting into them once the line is buried. We don’t want them to clog up.

Tomorrow is seed planting day. *YAY* My daughter and her friends look forward to this all year long.

I’ll also be adding a forests worth of sun flowers. Got to attract those fuzzy buzzies (bees)!

More weekly posts to come throughout summer and fall.
