Reno Nevada pumpkin patch

Welcome Great Pumpkin!

I started a pumpkin patch in our back yard in Reno, NV when my daughter was just 1 and a half years old. That was in 2016. I wanted to start a hobby that we could both have fun with, and make some life long memories. It since then has become a passion of mine.

Our pumpkin garden has evolved, grown, old fences torn down, new fences installed, and I’ve created as large of a space for growing as my little 1/4 acre lot will allow. We look forward to growing season all year.

The first weekend of fall, we throw a Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown party for her and her friends. About 10 very excited children come over for a spooky good time. They pick a pumpkin out of our pumpkin patch, they paint them, carve them, and pick as many others as they want to take home.

Then come the crafts. Last year, we took some old 30+ year old fence boards that I had stored from an old fence I removed to expand the garden, we cut them up, painted them white, and made little ghost families for the kids to take home. They loved them. They turned out really good.

Then we gather around the pumpkin patch when it gets dark, and play Disney’s Legend of Sleepy Hollow, and It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown. I fog up the pumpkin patch with dry ice in hot buckets of water and the kids go crazy.

We’re quite crazy about pumpkins. The autumn season, the cooler weather, and pumpkin flavored EVERYTHING!

I hope to record all of my successes and failures, fall crafts, recipes, good times, and all of my adventures in growing pumpkins for all to see, and will share my pumpkin growing tips and tricks that work for me.
